some stuff i liked (old)

APP that's been incredibly useful was RunKeeper, unlike other run trackers (Strava, Nike Run Club etc) this allows you to customise how often it notifies you. This has allowed me to continue doing track workouts without having access to a track or having to stare at my phone the entire run. Movie I watched was Inception starring Leonardo Di'Caprio. Great movie and makes you think a little bit. Podcasts: I have been listening to both my first million, which gives a really fascinating insight into the startup world. Along with this I 've also been listening to More or Less which gives a great insight, I'm not sure anyone would believe me if I told them that when the government says they have performed 100,000 tests in a day they actually mean we tested 30,000 and sent out some tests in the post.  Both of these are definitely worth listening to. YouTube channel recommendation: The Lion Whisperer: you thought the jungle book was unrealistic when the kid is friends with anim...

Philosophies for life

Recently a very popular blog post has been shooting around all the different arms of the innerwebs, if you are interested in any kind of "self help" content at all you have probably heard of it, its called 68 pieces of unsolicited life advice. summary of it It lead to me asking a greater question of myself - what are my philosophies for life? If I had to make one of these myself - say 16 pieces of unsolicited life advice - what would I put?

Would you rather kill 1 Baby or 100 Dogs? thought experiment

Here it was, the big one. We were siting in a hotel room in Disneyland, Paris - it had been a great day exploring the park and now the day was stretching out, it was almost 10'o'clock. After having a meal at Planet Hollywood we had just returned to our hotel. Our room- meant for 3, was full of every year eleven on the trip- about 11 of us in total and we were pretty much split.  The question proposed, as the title says, was this: if you had to pick one of the options what would you pick- kill 100 dogs or 1 baby. I cannot remember who brought this up but surprisingly, to me at least, the room was pretty split on this one. Going in my view was this, if it was between a dog and a baby I would probably pick the baby, Controversial? what would you pick

Water companies in the UK are one of the biggest scandal in existence in the 21st century and no one knows about it

at somepoint i will write properly about this this is just a prompt but honestly this is a scandal that is damaging our socitey  and yet so few people know about it as short as possible: water companies are monopolies that pump raw sewage into the ocean and rivers the majority of the year using extreme and severe weather as an excuse and go un punished! something has to be done about it

How to prepare for a radio interview

Smile when talking (yes even though they can't see you it makes your voice more energetic and nicer to listen to someone who sounds like they wnat to be there) (smiling actually makes you happier just like being happy makes you smile) Water Don’t clear throught  No background noise No umms, ors, you know what I mean, like Make sure you understand questions 3 key points have three key things you want to try and talk about to fall back on Anticipate difficult questions - what why how and have answers

Some people always want to do what’s easiest for them

Some people will always do what is easiest for them With these people the easiest option is not to ask for permission but beg for forgiveness  Even then the only way to find out whether they actually mean what they say is to push back Sport teachers always said you can’t play tennis, you can’t start a hockey club, you can’t use the other side of the sports hall All it took was a little push back on my side to get what I want  To often previously I have allowed myself to be a push over  The best example of this was when my DofE instructor told me I had packed my bad wrong, I thought it was fine and told him so  This ended up with him spending 5 minutes re- arranging my bag This skill is a delicate one, it is hard to read when people are making you a push over and when they actually mean what they say  It’s a balance I’m still trying to understand

How I went from 0 -> 1k ig followers in less than a month (2021)

How to grow any ig account to 1000+ followers in under a month: Pick something your interested in (what do you spend your time doing? Watching a certain tv show - make an account about it, same for a sport or hobbie u do Get a unique profile picture and account name immediately identifying what your about Make your bio something unique and memorable  If you’re good at sport as narsasitic as it sounds list your best achievements  Obviously if there is space chuck in a witty self deprecating comment Post 10 bits of decent content asap (in the space of an hour this should be done) (because of your interest this shouldn’t be to difficult)  Your captions should be the best you can come up with - not just saying what’s in the picture - unless it’s a cool word or something eg. Exploring, dog Add relevant hashtags in a single comment and keep them all in a notes file so you can copy and paste them into comments on every post Also tag other accounts you would like to be fea...

Being with your thoughts

Being able to be with your own thoughts is a super power/ super time that to many people neglect The ability to focus for long periods of time is a skill that is incredibly useful for school, one that can be trained and one that most people weaken by hitting their brains with constant short duration dopamine hits ( Tik tok) Sometimes your brain is off, let it rest properly and sometimes it’s on- get some paper and let it think  80% of your output comes from 20% of your time Being prepared = or > being confident  The past is gone, learn from it  The present is now act in it  The future is ahead plan for it Ikagai + 4hr work week = the most useful things I have come across YouTube creators if required can equal friends in times when you have to isolate (2019)

Your goals don’t need to be your goals

Why I will still try to get rich and famous even if being rich and famous will not make me happy Many people say money and wealth will not make you happy They are probably correct But having the goal of fame and wealth to work towards can be enough to make you happy- just by the fact of providing you a clear purpose and goal Therefore it could be argued that although wealth and fame do not make you happy the pursuit of them can Or having any goal can, because it provides purpose, it just happens that fame and money are easily measurable goals whose progress can be seen. Making them attractive targets for becoming our focus even if we are subconsciously aware they will not actually make us happy  Also fame = earning respect of others and ppl to share your life with  Money = being able to live the lifestyle you want  + Both enable you to aid the causes you want to help Obviously if the lifestyle you want is built on material goods (and you don’t realise buying more a...
