⛰ What It's About a girl, original sin, the meaning of life yeah for a children’s book Pullman deals with a lot of stuff! 🔍 How I Discovered It I cannot remember but I do remember my initial confusion reading them, then getting hooked 🧠 Thoughts the books get better and better from starting as a little girl brought up in a small college at Oxford University running over the rooftops, these books reach unimaginable proportions only really understandable when I think of the books influence from Paradise lost. Most authors wouldn’t dare facing such large themes. The fact Pullman does makes these books even more impressive. What I Liked About It everything. almost everything the magical element the pure sense of adventure that encapsulates these books the learning, and the fact that pullman doesn’t hide his young protagonist from some truly impossible choices. escape, hunted, adventure, hunting, exploring, learning, manipulating and so much more. Twists to fill your b...

⛰ What It's About For anyone who hasn’t read the books These are hard to explain I first read the start of ‘The girl with the dragon tattoo,’ the first book in the series, years ago, but did not keep reading. However this Christmas, when I gave them another chance, I loved them. They start with a lot of mystery. What turns out to be necessary build up but initially feels like a less exciting introduction. However once the plot starts to flow... wow these books hook you, in a way that I can only compare to Dan Brown’s books. 🔍 How I Discovered It My mum had read the books so they were in the house, I had seen how popular they were so wanted to give them a chance. 🧠 Thoughts as much as I loved this entire trilogy, I could not bring myself to read the follow up books by a different author. That is not a bad thing. It is because the trilogy feels like such a complete set and story that adding to it, for me at least, feels unnecessary and only has a chance of taking aw...

⛰ What It's About a man who lived in the roman era and came to became one of the most famous people in the whole of Rome, living alongside (and sometimes against) the likes of Julius Caesar. The book plots Cicero and Tiro's rise from lawyer and secretary, from a low class background, to placing themselves against some of Rome’s most notorious figures ever. The story begins with Cicero (from a fairly humble background) as the 'second best lawyer in Rome'. Over the course of the true story Cicero rubs shoulders with incredibly influential individuals. Hearing about them in a normal everyday context is fascinating. The book is from the perspective of Cicero's lifelong servant and friend, who, after a monumental moment in his life, is eventually freed by Cicero. The book details the ever present conflict between reality and always being morally correct. Cicero, an Athens educated philosopher, always deeply wants to be the later but, as you will see, politics is a di...

webiste: sive.rs by derek sivers this website / blog has been incredibly useful to me, and to millions of others. The frequently asked questions section answers some of the most common questions that people who are feeling lost must have. articles like 'how to do what you love and make good money". I highly recommend checking it out In addition to answering some of the most common questions sivers gets (he gets a lot as he claims to answer or at least read every email he gets (somethign i am yet to check haha)) sivers also includes notes from almost every book he has read, another valuable resource. I hope you find this recommendation helpful :)
